What This Covers

AppPoints are a shared pool, not a per-user license. This reference pulls the whole model onto a few pages so you do not have to reconstruct it from three separate sections of IBM's licensing page. It covers the three tiers (Limited, Base, Premium) and what each can and cannot access, the Authorized and Concurrent conversion ratios for every tier, the install costs that come off the top of your pool, and the five things that quietly change your count before you have finished sizing.

The Worksheet

The back of the guide is a fill-in worksheet. You total your install components, sort every person into self-service, Limited, Base, or Premium, move any Base user who touches an industry solution or add-on up to Premium, pick Authorized or Concurrent per bucket, add administrators, and total it with headroom. A worked example for a regional water utility shows the shape a healthy maintenance license takes: a wide, cheap Limited base with a small Premium cap on top.

No email required. No signup. Share it with whoever has to make the number work. Every figure comes from IBM's published licensing guidance, and the guide links both IBM pages so you can verify against your own contract.

This worksheet sizes the pool by hand. When you size it against your real user list and rebuild the security groups that drive consumption, that is the AppPoints and Security Groups Workshop and Playbook.
